I thought I write a blog post about an animal I am very fond of – the Asiatic Lion (Panthera leo persica). Chester zoo are member of the European stud book for Asiatics and this yea they saw they male, Asoka, depart for an Italian zoo and he has been replaced with Iblis. Iblis is 2 and half years old and it is hoped that when he reached sexual maturity in around 18 months time he will become a mate for Asha, the resident female.
As members of Chester Zoo we go there about once a month, but our visit this last weeken was our furst since February and was the first time we had seen Iblis. He is quite a handsome young lion and I found him to be very photogenic, so here are 10 of my favorite shots of home.
