Regular followers of this blog will know that we visited Chester Zoo an awful lost in 2009 and early 2010. We had a 15 month membership that allowed us to visit when we wanted an not pay admission. This was incredible and well worth the cost of membership because it meant we didn’t have to rush around the zoo on each visit to get “our monies worth”, instead we could take time at each exhibit safe in the knowledge that whatever we missed we could visit next time.
We decided not to renew our membership this year as we wanted to experience other zoos and animal parks and felt that allow Chester to develop further would enrich our next visit with new things to see.
So, we decided to visit Blackpool Zoo in August. I went a few times as a child whilst on our annual holiday in Blackpool but I’m guessing I hadn’t been in about 20 years! I can still vividly remember posing for a photo outside the gorilla enclosure all those years ago. I never imagined they still kept gorillas, and never in my wildest dreams did I expect an infant gorilla just a few months old.
After the zoo we had a craving foe seaside fish and chips so we headed towards town. They always taste so much better by the sea don’t they? Now I don’t much like the main hub of Blackpool anymore, overpriced and tacky are two words that spring to mind, so we headed north to Bispham. After getting the fish and chips we found out way to a coastal road and ate. The evening was marching on but as the girls had seen the beach and wanted to play we hot footed it down to the sands. For all the stick Blackpool gets about it’s beaches I have to say the sands at Bispham are beautiful.
